Imagine… The Great Flood

Imagine. . .The Great Flood by Matt Koceich from Barbour Publishing

Imagine...The Great Flood by Matt KoceichI was excited to get the opportunity to review Imagine. . .The Great Flood by Matt Koceich from Barbour Publishing even though my children are teenagers.

The Story

This is the story of a young ten-year-old boy who is reluctantly in the middle of a move across the country with his parents and his dog, Molly. When he loses his dog and chases her into the woods, he falls and finds himself plopped down into the world of Noah and his family as they prepare for the great voyage on the ark.

The Plot

The book is filled with non-stop excitement, compelling action, and vivid descriptions of the biblical world of Noah. A series of tests and trials that Corey must face as he helps Noah and his sons gather up the animals in time for the flood help Corey to realize that changes are sometimes neIMAGINE... The Great Flood cessary. As a result he learns to face evil and turn to the light.

The Moral

Through his adventures, Corey learns to embrace God and learn that even though change is a constant force in the world, God’s love for him is steady and true.

One Thing I Would Do

If my children were younger, I would want to explain to them that the descriptions of the Nephilim living in the areas that Noah and his sons needed to go, in order to gather up the animals for the ark, are not in keeping with actual biblical accounts. Adding these giants and Elizar as a wizard-like character, make the story exciting but stray from actual accounts too much for my liking.

IMAGINE... The Great Flood I Really Liked It!

Overall I really enjoyed this book. If my children were younger and in the 8 to 12 age range, I am certain that they would have found it exciting. Matt Koceich does a great job of creating an exciting and detailed tale out of the story of Noah in the book Imagine. . .The Great Flood.
