Caught in The Rapids {Our Weekly WrapUp}

Ever have one of those weeks that screamed past? The kind that just blew past you?

Caught in the RapidsAs the week whirled by, I caught glimpses of beautiful moments of family and children. But I just caught a snip here or there.

All the while I felt as if I was in the middle of the crashing and tumbling rapids. Tossing and tumbling, struggling to stay afloat and keep pointed in the general direction of downstream.

Why?

I really don’t have a clue. Maybe it was the time of year.

Do you feel the doldrums this time of year?

You see little glimpses of spring perhaps, but then the clouds and the cold return and it is winter-like again. That kind of weather just saps my strength and enthusiasm.

This was one of those weeks that I baked a lot. That, for me is a sign that I am looking for comfort. Do you feel the same?

The baking made my kids and hub happy, though.

And I discovered a great baking tip: if you make blueberry cake, use freeze-dried blueberries and then they don’t get crushed up in the batter. Once the cake comes out of the oven, the blueberries have soaked up all the liquid they need and they are plump and sweet and tangy – just perfect!

I wrote a lot about slowing down this week, but mostly because I desperately wanted to slow down my week.

I wanted to appreciate the moment my son started contrasting several books of the Bible in response to a chapter of a review book we are reading together, “Always Fall Forward” by Todd Gerelds  (review coming soon).

I wanted to sit with a cuppa in my favorite chair as the sun shined through our lace curtains, listening to my daughter play her ukulele and her viola and her clarinet and her. . . well, you get the idea.

Instead I was filled with an anxious, “gotta keep running to catch up,” feeling for most of the week.

Why?

Not a clue. But I hope that next week will be better.

Have you been feeling it too? (please tell me it is not just me!)

Our Blog was busy this week – Thank you to everyone who is commenting and joining me as we talk about homeschooling life! I really enjoy the conversation and fellowship.

I wrote about slowing down to breathe (sounded good, but it didn’t help me this week!), teaching your children to stand tall and speak clearly, and another shot at relaxing by going on a date with my hub with S is for Slow Down.

A bit of music that sums up my week completely, only we didn’t have any beer in the house!
