Nothing is a Mistake

Do you ever worry that you made a mistake?

Nothing is a mistakeYou just made a mistake. Maybe you just explained a tricky bit of algebra wrong, or forgot the name of the king of England who ruled his way through 8 wives and a whole pile of bloodshed. Don’t worry, Mom.

So, maybe you just made a big mistake in front of your kids. I have been there too.

But when you think about it, all those mistakes lead you right here to this very moment. Your children recovered and in the process of sitting down with them to re-explain the math or history, they learned even more. You ended up teaching them how to learn, not what to learn.

Nothing really is a mistake when it comes to homeschooling.

And Thank God for all of it. Why? Because without all of those mistakes and backtracks and re-teachings, you wouldn’t be here today. Your child wouldn’t understand the most important part of learning: it isn’t about what you know, it is about how you try to know it.

Now, aren’t you glad you made mistakes?

As you start your morning this week with your kids, be bold and be fearless Mom! Even if programming or algebra scare the pants off you, swallow that fear and roll up your sleeves. You are the most qualified person to teach your children. You know it and God knows it. All you need to do is show your son and your daughter that even if you make mistakes, you can work hard and figure something out.

be bold and fearless

Now that is the glory of homeschooling! So fess up and share! What is the latest mistake you made in your homeschool?
