Elizabeth Isichei was born in 1939 in New Zealand. This was the year that the entire Spanish government picked up and fled to France weeks before the end of the Spanish Civil War, European countries were busily setting up complex agreements of support in case of German invasion which happened towards the end of the year as Germany reclaimed Danzig, an earthquake killed 10,000 souls in Chile, and Wisconsin native, Ernest Hausen, plucked an entire chicken in only 4.4 sec and set a record to boot.
Mrs. Isichei completed her PhD from Oxford University in 1967, was a professor of Religious Studies at the University of Otago, and now is a professor in the History Department at The University of Jos in Nigeria. Her focus is the history of Christianity in Africa and on the the history of the Igbo people in Nigeria.

My daughter chose this author. After reading through a bit of one of her books, A History of Christianity in Africa, we have decided to use it in our homeschool this fall. I am a couple of chapters in to pre-reading it so far. It is a fascinating look at the development of Christianity. Elizabeth begins with the African men who were sainted with Christian names shortly after the time of the Acts and continues on to the fight of Christian groups in the heart of Africa since that time.
Isichei is a fascinating historian and paints in the rest of the story of Christianity for us.
