How We Homeschool : The Art of Gently

Gently. So often I forget to slow down and just gently be there with my kids.

The Art of GentlySo often I come into the situation with an agenda. My kids are doing something together and in I charge. I have something I need them to do or something that I need to tell them. I don’t slowly enter the conversation. I just charge in. Do you find yourself doing this too?

I think it is because I am Mom. I was the center of my kids’ world and the driving force for everything when they were young. I got used to that role. I became accustomed to that way of doing things.

Now that my kids are teens, I need to back away from that kind of Mom role.

I need to spend time listening, and handing the reigns over more and more.

We spend so much time helping our kids to stand up on their own and become strong, faithful, and kind adults. But do we always know when to back away from helping and let them stand on their own?

Do we approach them gently?

For my part, I think I get too caught up in the day to day management of house, homeschool, and kids to stop, slow down, and approach my kids gently.

But this week I will try to better.
